Introduction to eBook Publishing

Pustakvani enables authors and publishers to publish and sell eBooks through our platform. Authors can upload their eBook, set the price, and make it available in the Pustakvani store. The details of the process are explained in the following sections.

File Specifications

• Files are sold as PDF and optionally as EPUB. PDF is mandatory.
• Accepted source formats: .doc, .docx, .sxw, .odt, .rtf, .pdf
• Non-PDF files are automatically converted to PDF.
• The first page of the file should be the Front Cover. Separate covers are not accepted.
• Leave at least 0.5″ bottom margin for watermarking buyer’s email ID.
• EPUB submission is optional but should include the cover image.

Price & Author Royalty

• You can set any MRP (minimum ₹5 or free).
• Author Royalty:
  • 75% of MRP on sales through Pustakvani store
  • 25% of MRP on sales through other channels

Terms of Publishing

• By submitting, you grant Pustakvani a non-exclusive right to distribute and sell your eBook. Copyright remains with you.
• You can continue to sell, share, or distribute your book on other platforms.
• Ensure that the content does not violate copyrights, privacy, or any law.
• Pustakvani is not responsible for misuse or piracy by buyers.
• Unpublishing from Pustakvani does not auto-remove the book from other distribution channels.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Pustakvani does not use restrictive DRM. Instead, we use a Social DRM system where:

• The buyer’s email is watermarked on the PDF file.
• This discourages piracy without restricting genuine readers.
• EPUB files currently have no watermark.
