eBook Publishing at Pustakvani

Introduction to eBook Publishing at Pustakvani

Pustakvani provides authors and publishers with the opportunity to self-publish and sell eBooks on its platform. Authors can easily upload their eBooks, set their price, and sell through Pustakvani’s online eBook store. The following sections provide detailed information about how to publish your eBook with us.

File Specifications

At Pustakvani, we accept eBook files in PDF format as mandatory, with an optional submission in EPUB format.

For eBooks to be sold in PDF:

  • Accepted File Formats: .doc, .docx, .sxw, .odt, .rtf, and .pdf.

  • Conversion: Files submitted in non-PDF formats will be automatically converted to PDF by Pustakvani.

  • Cover Image: The first page of the file will be used as the front cover image for the eBook. No separate cover image files are required.

  • Margins: Please ensure at least 0.5-inch margin at the bottom of each page. This space will be used for watermarking the buyer’s email ID. Other margins can be adjusted as per your design preferences.

For eBooks to be sold in EPUB:

  • Accepted File Format: Only EPUB files are accepted for this option.

  • Cover Image: A cover image should be included in the EPUB file itself.

  • Optional: Submitting an EPUB file is optional. If you do not have an EPUB version, you may skip this step.

Price and Author Margin/Royalty

  • MRP (Maximum Retail Price): You set the price for your eBook. The price can be as low as ₹5 or even free, depending on your preference.

  • Author Royalty:

    • 55% of MRP when the eBook is sold through Pustakvani’s store.

    • some% of MRP when sold through other distribution channels or affiliates.

Terms for eBook Publishing

By uploading your eBook files to Pustakvani, you grant us the non-exclusive rights to digitally publish, distribute, market, and sell your eBook. You retain the copyright to your work.

  • Non-Exclusive License: You continue to retain the full rights to your eBook and can publish, distribute, or sell it elsewhere, as per your discretion.

  • Global Distribution: Pustakvani has the right to distribute and sell your eBook through its store and other channels (e.g., affiliate sites or marketplaces).

  • Copyright: You remain the copyright holder of the eBook.

By submitting content, you confirm that:

  • The content is original and does not infringe any third-party rights (including copyright, trademark, privacy, etc.).

  • The content complies with all applicable laws and the Pustakvani Terms & Conditions.

Note: Pustakvani does not review or monitor the content for quality. It is your responsibility to ensure the content adheres to legal and community guidelines.

Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you upload. Pustakvani will not be held accountable for any issues arising from the content, such as copyright infringement, defamatory statements, or violation of privacy. You agree to indemnify Pustakvani for any legal liabilities arising from your content.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

  • No DRM Protection: At Pustakvani, we do not impose Digital Rights Management (DRM) on your eBooks. DRM often restricts the number of devices on which an eBook can be read, and its implementation can lead to issues for legitimate buyers.

Instead, we use Social DRM as an alternative. This approach involves stamping the buyer’s email address on the PDF files to help reduce piracy and unauthorized distribution.

  • Social DRM: When a customer buys your eBook, their email address will be watermarked on the PDF file. This personal information is added to encourage responsible sharing and discourage unauthorized distribution.

  • EPUB Files: Currently, EPUB files do not include Social DRM.

This system is still in the experimental phase and may evolve over time to further safeguard your work.

Unpublishing and Removal of Content

  • Takedown Requests: If you wish to unpublish your eBook, you can submit a takedown request through your account on Pustakvani. It may take up to 48 working hours to process your request, and orders received during that period will still be fulfilled.

  • Distribution Channels: If your eBook has been distributed to other channels (e.g., affiliate sites), you need to notify Pustakvani via email for the removal request. Unpublishing your book on Pustakvani will not automatically remove it from other channels.

Refund Policy

Due to the nature of eBooks being digitally downloadable content, Pustakvani does not offer refunds once the purchase has been completed, except in cases of production defects, such as missing pages or file corruption.

Note: Any customer-facing issues related to the file (e.g., defective content) can be addressed by contacting Pustakvani support for a replacement.

By publishing your eBook with Pustakvani, you ensure your content reaches a wide audience while retaining full control over your intellectual property.

e-Book Purchase Terms – Pustakvani

By purchasing an eBook from Pustakvani, you (“Buyer”) agree to the following terms and conditions governing the use, access, and ownership of digital content on our platform.

📥 Usage Rights

  • When you purchase an eBook, you are not buying the ownership of the file itself but acquiring a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-distributable license to access and read it.

  • This license is granted solely for your personal, non-commercial use in compliance with Indian copyright law and Pustakvani’s platform policies.

  • You may not:

    • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the eBook

    • Share it through email, websites, or physical media

    • Modify, alter, or remove digital watermarks or embedded security marks

    • Upload the file to public or private repositories, social media platforms, or file-sharing websites

🔐 Download Access

  • After your purchase, you will be provided with download access to your eBook through your Pustakvani account.

  • In general, we allow multiple downloads for your convenience across your personal devices (mobile, tablet, desktop, eReader). However, Pustakvani is obligated to provide at least one successful download.

  • To ensure the integrity of your purchase, your email ID will be watermarked (digitally stamped) on the PDF file for identification and piracy prevention.

  • Buyers must not remove, tamper with, or conceal this watermark. Attempting to do so may result in suspension of your account and potential legal action under anti-piracy and cybercrime laws.

📄 Ownership & Copyright

  • All copyrights for the eBook content remain with the respective authors or publishers.

  • Pustakvani only facilitates the sale and secure delivery of digital content. We do not claim ownership over any intellectual property in the eBooks listed unless explicitly stated.

  • Authors have the right to unpublish or modify their content at any time. However, once purchased, your copy of the eBook remains accessible under the original terms.

⛔ Unauthorized Use

  • Sharing your downloaded copy, especially with your email watermark, may result in legal consequences and immediate suspension of your Pustakvani account.

  • We reserve the right to disable downloads or take appropriate action if misuse or piracy is detected.

If you experience issues with downloading your eBook or if the file appears to be corrupted, please reach out to us at

  • Registered email address

  • A brief description of the issue

We will do our best to resolve your issue promptly and, if required, reissue a clean copy of the file.

Purchasing an eBook from Pustakvani implies your acceptance of these terms, as well as the general Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of our website. Any violation may lead to suspension of access and/or legal proceedings under applicable Indian cyber and copyright laws.

Order Cancellation, Returns, and Refund Policy

Books purchased through Pustakvani are printed as per the order placed. As all books are printed on demand, we regret to inform you that we cannot cancel orders, accept returns, or provide refunds once the order is confirmed.

Content and Design Quality Disclaimer: Since Pustakvani provides a platform for self-publishing, the authors are solely responsible for the content, design, and overall quality of their work. This includes, but is not limited to, spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, design inconsistencies, and formatting issues. As our platform is open to all authors, Pustakvani does not review, edit, or monitor individual content prior to publication, and we do not take responsibility for any quality issues with the content or design.

Defective Product Replacement: In the rare event that you receive a product with a production defect, such as missing pages, torn corners, or any other physical damage, we will be happy to offer you a replacement copy of the book at no additional cost.

To request a replacement, please reach out to us via email at info@pustakvani.com within 7 days of receiving the defective product. Be sure to include your order number and a clear description of the defect.

Please note that replacement requests for defective products will only be processed if the item is returned in its original condition. Pustakvani will not be responsible for any damage that occurs after the product has been received by the customer.

b. Ad Placement

  • We do not allow pop-ups, auto-playing video ads, or any ad formats that negatively impact user experience.

c. Advertiser Guidelines

  • All advertisers must comply with Indian laws and the platform’s content standards.

  • We do not accept ads for:

    • Adult or sexually explicit content

    • Gambling or betting

    • Harmful or misleading health claims

    • Political or hate-based content

d. Partner Advertising

  • Verified partners may advertise their books, courses, events, or services directly through Pustakvani Advertising Solutions.
